The Unique Identification Authority of India (UIDAI) has warned Aadhaar cardholders not to use PVC Aadhaar cards, from the open market.

Officials have said that such cards are not valid and only cards issued by UIDAI will be considered valid. UIDAI said in a tweet, "#AadhaarEssentials.

We strongly discourage the use of PVC base copies from the open market as they do not allow it.

According to UIDAI, Aadhaar cards obtained from the open market are not secure and hence cardholders should obtain documents from UIDAI.
